Just as companies and countries have their creditworthiness evaluated by agencies like Standard and Poors, and Moody’s, organisations can evaluate their ‘cultureworthiness’ against my 4A rating scale.
The higher the rating, the more prepared your business is for;
The four A’s are;
Awareness
The business understands and acknowledges the role culture plays in maintaining performance levels suitable to deliver the business strategy and achieve the key objectives. This in turn ensures leadership takes culture seriously enough to mandate that culture be factored into all facets of the business to ensure the effective delivery of the business strategy.
Alignment
The culture is carefully planned for and the plan is used to deliberately align culture to the business strategy, brand, and employee values proposition and customer experience.
Attraction
The culture is developed and maintained to ensure that it is seen as an attractive proposition to current and future customers, as well as key talent in the market place.
Adaption
The internal capability and awareness of people to see that the company’s cultures needs to be able to adapt, adjust,or evolve enough to meet the changing needs of the market place or the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity it faces at any given time.
