Recent Work On Culture in the Workplace

The confidential nature of the work i do with clients, does not lend itself to me making detailed information public. However, I have listed here, in general terms, some recent workplace culture initiatives i have undertaken for clients.

Thought Leadership

I am currently delivering the ‘Thought Leader Enterprise' curriculum and the ‘Thought Leadership Advantage’ curriculum within client organisations in Australia and New Zealand. Even though we are still working through the ‘introductory’ modules on both programmes, it is becoming obvious to participants that what they are learning and applying will dramatically change how they and their organisation can be perceived in the marketplace.

This is not training/development. This is teaching a marketing methodology that positions participants and the organisation as Thought Leaders in their industry. Do you really want to let your opposition to beat you to this leading edge marketing strategy? There’s no second place in your industry for Thought Leadership, so don’t hesitate to book me for a complementary discussion to introduce you to the program and evaluate your readiness and the programs suitability for your organisation.

Culture Mapping

Does your organisation have a strategic plan or business plan? Stupid question right! Of course it does. Here’s the kicker. Does it have a Culture plan?
Culture is eight times more influential to performance variance than your strategic plan. In other words if your culture isn't aligned to your business strategy, you can kiss goodbye to outstanding results being delivered through implementing your strategy.
If you want to increasingly align your company culture with your business strategy this is the program for you.

Examples include;
Mapping a global engineering company's culture across four continents to determine the variances among the culture and their impact on the global and regional strategy.
Mapping the varies cultures of a large merger acquisition project.The traditional due diligence suggested the business would work. My culture Map suggested it wouldn't. Culture won!
I am currently Mapping several organisation’s cultures to support them to transition into the ‘new economy’ whilst honouring and leveraging their proud historical traditions and values .

Mapped the culture for a large internal professional services organizations spread over four contents to evaluate their cultural differences and degree of alignment.

Chiefing Your Tribe

In the first three months of this year i've already run 4 Chiefing Your Tribe workshops. With a variety of leaders form across industry types. Most leaders know how to manage and lead a business or strategy. Many do not understand or know how to lead  the organisations culture ! This workshop shows them how.This project required the senior managers and branch managers in this organization in Cultural Pathways to leverage their employee engagement and increase staff retention by over 300%.

Knowledge Transfer

In this project we trained 22 people in the organization in Culture Planning. The client is focusing their efforts on mapping the cultures of various internal departments to identify ways to resolve silo conflicts. The client is also using the same approach to build its employment brand proposition.

Keynote

I love how busy I am delivering the ‘Get Tribal’ and ‘Chiefing Your Tribe’ keynote.
They offer huge insights and lessons in how to get the most from your workplace culture.
Im passionate about the content of these talks and believe they contain the essential keys to effective culture change and development. As one MC recently said when introducing me “Who better to talk to us about our culture than an anthropologist!” Talk with me about how these keynotes can make your conference/event/leadership retreat both meaningful & memorable.

I spoke at the Sydney and Auckland TED X conferences on “Why companies are failing at culture.” The talks were very well received and key points I made during the talks were met with spontaneous applause. I also spoke to a standing room only gathering of C.E.O and Directors on “How to leverage culture during tough times”, for an event on behalf of Kerridge and Partners.

Culture & Strategy Alignment;

Ongoing work with a large Australian legal firm to map their culture, educate their leadership team and align their culture to their growth strategy.

Black Belt Sales

Currently working with an Australian client and taking their entire sales force (spread across 3 states) though this unique sales programme. They chose this programme because they recognised the need to build sales cultures aligned with the country’s culture This ‘cultural alignment’ is critical for developing high sales performance, and would seem obvious, yet research I've conducted shows, amongst other things;
Most sales training still being used in Australasia is based on American sales techniques that matches the American culture, but which is at odds with Australian and New Zealand culture!
90 % of the sales people still believed last centuries proposition that customers have objections that need to be overcome.
20 % of the sales teams were delivering 80% of the results.... mostly as a consequence of the reward and recognition offered by their company.

I am currently working with two separate organizations to create a deliberate and focused sales culture. Both organizations are responding to changing economic circumstances and are committed to building what I refer to as a “ Ferocious sales culture”. This is not ferocious in a violence context but Ferocious in a tribal context. In this context Ferocious means to surrender your fears. Or in sales lingo, Handle your own objections before you meet and manage the customers!
