radio stations and leadership perspective
A friend of mine was telling me of his experience of hosting a radio show on our local community radio station. His sense of "increasing discomfort" when trying to switch the station's computer back on to automate (think giant i-player) at the end of his show, paralleled recent conversations i've had with people in leadership roles who are working to unlock the power of their workplace cultures and create greater engagement between employees and the company's strategies

A friend of mine was telling me of his experience of hosting a radio show on our local community radio station. His sense of "creeping discomfort" when trying to switch the station's computer back on to automate (think giant i-player) at the end of his show, paralleled recent conversations i've had with people in leadership roles who are working to unlock the power of their workplace cultures and create greater engagement between employees and the company's strategies.

3 thing happened...to my friend when resetting the station's playlist to play automatically.
1. He had conflicting information to work with
2. He hadn't got a full understanding of how all the 'bits fitted together'
3. He had no easy way to contact anyone for help.

The combination of these three things were the main contributors to his "creeping discomfort" as he watched the minutes on the clock tick down, realising there was apparently nothing he could do to avoid the inevitable silence of 'dead air' taking over the Sunday morning airwaves

These same three things are impacting leadership effectiveness in organizations. At least once a week i'm having conversations with leaders on ways to support them

1. Create and effectively deliver aligned information throughout their organization
2. Develop the leadership perspective required to understand culture and align people with strategy
3. Develop a support network of people in leadership roles who are working on unlocking the power of workplace culture
