A client on my Thought Leadership Development Program introduced me to a quote by Ajay Royan, cofounder and investor in Mithril Capital Management in the U.S. The quote was “We hit our complexity budget before we reach our ability to operate at our peak.”
Now I’m not a investor or venture capitalist but the quote triggered me to think that a similar concept would apply to culture. Let me explain.
To adapt Mr Royan’s words; “Organisations hit cultural complexity before they reach their ability to operate at their peak”. What I mean by this is that many cultures grow organically and if those cultures are not understood or monitored closely, then they can become too complex to be evaluated effectively and too complex to be streamlined to achieve peak performance.
How Is Your Organisation Doing?
- Is your company culture too complex to truly understand and evaluate?
- If so what can be done to reduce the complexity and increase the clarity?
